Gini Wijnaldum was given an absolutely thunderous ovation by Roma fans after he was presented on the pitch at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday.

The Europa Conference League winners hosted Shakhtar Donetsk in their final friendly - a peace match for Ukraine - before the Serie A campaign begins next week.

Wijnaldum made his debut for the club, coming off the bench in a 5-0 thrashing where Lorenzo Pellegrini, Gianluca Mancini, Nicolo Zaniolo and Edoardo Bove were on target - in addition to an own goal from Yukhym Konoplya.

Prior to the game, Jose Mourinho's squad were introduced one by one to the passionate Giallorossi fans, who made a whole lot of noise.

My heart is bouncing, unreal reception for a top fella. Good luck @GWijnaldum

why can’t players in england ever get an entrance like this

And Wijnaldum, having recently signed on loan from Paris Saint-Germain after an underwhelming first season in Ligue One, received a raucous reception when his name was read out by the stadium announcer.

The volume was raised to a quite extraordinary level and fans erupted into voice when the Wijnaldum chant - to the tune of 'This Girl' by Kungs vs Cookin' on 3 burners.

When Wijnaldum signed and became Roma's fifth summer signing, he was greeted by hundreds of fans at the airport.

Fellow new signing Paulo Dybala was also given a stunning welcome as 8,000 fans gathered at Square Colosseum and serenaded him with the club's anthem.

The Argentine was met with similar affection when he was presented on the pitch on Sunday, as were the likes of Tammy Abraham and Nicolo Zaniolo.

The official presentation was live streamed on the club's social media accounts. Nobody does it like Roma.
