Fred dedicated his goal to Manchester United teammate's incredible work-rate

The midfielder grabbed United's third goal as they completed a comeback against West Ham in the FA Cup, and instantly thanked his teammate.

Fred was so happy with Manchester United teammate Wout Weghorst that he instantly thanked the forward for his work-rate that led to his goal on Wednesday night.

The good times continued rolling at Old Trafford in the FA Cup, with the game preceded by the presentations of the Carabao Cup, Mary Earps trophy for the FIFA Best Women's Goalkeeper of the Year, Casemiro's place in FIFA's Best Team of the Year and David de Gea breaking a club record for most clean sheets.

If the ground was in party mood ahead of kick off, then it was absolutely rocking late in the game, after Said Benrahma had put West Ham United ahead, somewhat controversially.

With time ticking away, and having seen Casemiro have a goal disallowed, Nayef Aguerd scored an own goal and then Alejandro Garnacho put the hosts ahead, with a brilliant effort in the 90th minute.

Deep into injury time, Erik ten Hag's side made sure of their spot in the quarter finals of the cup, with Fred rounding off the scoring from close range.

Lisandro Martinez celebrated in the fashion befitting a man known as the 'Butcher of Argentina,' by slide tackling his teammates, stud first.

But Fred's celebration also caught the eye, as the Brazilian pointed at Weghorst, who had helped win the ball back in the lead up to the goal.

"Wout Weghorst is currently by far the best non-scoring striker on earth," one fan said.

"Man really turns into Olivier Giroud in World Cup 2018. Lack of goals but contributed massively to the team with his determination and pressure," a second added, comparing him to the AC Milan forward who won the World Cup without scoring.

A third noted, "94th minute and he’s still pressing and hassling."

On the run that took the defender away from goal, giving Fred a free shot into the corner, a fourth posted, "How cleverly he cleared the front taking that defender with him. Hats off."

Talking about the criticism of the striker's goals record, another replied, "Wout Weghorst’s workrate is incredible. I find it absolutely ridiculous how so many are so critical of him. Do we watch the same games? He does so much for the team that people don’t see."

And a sixth simply said, "I love you Wout Weghorst."

The striker, on loan from Burnley, is quickly turning into a cult hero for the title chasers, despite his lack of goals since joining in January.

As a tall player he is bad at the things he looks like he'd be good at but good at the things you'd stereotypically think he'd be bad at, for example, he's not great in the air but chases down everything and is an excellent ball player.

As well as his input to the third goal, Garnacho's sublime strike came from a blocked shot by the tall Dutch striker, for who a goal would have been greeted very heartily by supporters.

Piers Morgan attempted to mock United by saying they would prefer Cristiano Ronaldo up front rather than Weghorst, but the Al Nassr forward has never put in the same effort for his teammates as the 30-year-old, there's a reason Fred celebrated with him...
