Wrexham look set to respond to a transfer setback with the second capture of a Manchester City player before the window shuts.
After their third consecutive promotion to return to the second tier of English football, Wrexham have made a series of changes to their squad and broken their transfer record on more than one occasion.
There have been as many as 11 recruits at the SToK Racecourse Ground, including Josh Windass, Conor Coady, Kieffer Moore, Nathan Broadhead and midfielder Ben Sheaf, who joined for £6.5 million from Coventry City on Monday.
The Welsh outfit, co-owned by Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac, also paid £7.5 million to City for centre-back Callum Doyle as well as agreeing a buy-back option and sell-on clause for the 21-year-old.

They had hoped to round off their summer business with the capture of Jordan James from Rennes but as per L'Equipe, Leicester City have fended off a whole host of clubs to sign the 21-year-old.
However, Wrexham are still expected to bring in one more face - with Ben Jacobs reporting that a loan deal for City's Issa Kabore is close to being agreed.

Kabore, who can play as a right wing-back in Phil Parkinson's preferred system, signed for City back in 2020 but failed to make a single senior appearance.

Instead he was sent out on a total of six different loans with former club Mechelen, Troyes, Marseille, Luton Town, Benfica and Werder Bremen.
The 24-year-old has Premier League experience from his spell at Luton and has been capped 49 times by Burkina Faso.
The deal is expected to go through once Kabore passes a medical and reports claim Wrexham are still hopeful of adding another centre-back to the ranks.
Wrexham's busy deadline day
According to Nathan Salt of the Daily Mail, Wrexham had "targeted three arrivals" when deadline day began and "there is increasing confidence" that they will be successful with a third bid for Blackburn Rovers defender Dominic Hyam.

The club had tried to snap up Zak Vyner from Bristol City but turned their attentions to Hyam after multiple bids were turned down.
Wrexham got their first win of the season away at Millwall on Saturday and are hoping their new signings can push them up the Championship table.
