
Wrexham have been handed a financial blow despite securing promotion to the Championship on their first attempt.
Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have overseen three successive promotions from the National League to the Championship after they acquired the club in 2021.
The Welsh side secured automatic promotion last month, meaning manager Phil Parkinson has been able to make an early start on next their preparations for the Championship.

Speaking following their promotion, Deadpool star, Reynolds, reflected on the community he has become a part of since immersing himself in the Welsh city.
"Wrexham is just as politically divided as anywhere else but when you walk through the gates of that place, we're all wearing the same shirt and we're chanting the same filthy songs," He said via the BBC.
While Wrexham have been able to flex their financial muscle in previous seasons to be competitive with the signings of Ben Foster and James McClean, it could be a very different story this summer.

According to Alan Nixon on Patreon, Wrexham’s second division status has meant that the current players have been given a significant pay rise for their efforts.
With eight players already released by the League 1 runners-up, it is likely Wrexham will need a significant squad refresh to compete in the Championship.
Paul Mullin is one of the players who has been handed an increase in wages, and with the striker's suitors likely to be lower league clubs it will be a lot harder to move the 30-year-old on.
Mullin has been a major part of Wrexham's meteoric rise from the National League, but did not feature as often last campaign and finished the season with just three league goals in 26 appearances.

Despite the new financial restraints the club will be working under Football Insider sources have claimed that Parkinson will have around £30m to play with this summer.
The Red Dragons have been linked to the likes of Jamie Vardy and Tom Cairney since being confirmed as a Championship club next season.
