Wrexham's next game to be broadcasted in 'revolutionary' way in EFL first

Wrexham's next game to be broadcasted in 'revolutionary' way in EFL first

Phil Parkinson's side come up against Barnsley on Tuesday night.

American fans of Wrexham will be able to watch their upcoming League One clash against Barnsley in style – and it's the ultimate viewing experience when it comes to watching live sports.

Firsty, we need to give you an insight into the company Cosm, who claim they are "redefining content and the fan experience" with their revolutionary technology.

Cosm install several discreet 8K cameras around a match stadium to capture all angles, with no interruption to the regular production output. This is then “stitched” together to create the unique wide-angle effect that recreates being in the ground itself.

In short, their aim is to completely immerse and transport you into the content, putting you in the front row of a sporting event by using an 87-foot diameter 12K+ LED dome.

This is called Shared Reality – an experience that bridges the virtual and physical worlds by merging state-of-the-art visuals with the energy of the crowd; not to mention a food and beverage service.

Cosm can take you courtside at NBA games or inside the octagon at UFC events. In fact, it has been announced that six EFL games will be presented in shared reality at venues in Los Angeles and Dallas.

The arrangement has been made possible by CBS Sports, who are the international broadcast partner for EFL competition matches in the United States.

So how much will fans have to pay for a ticket? Ticket prices for Wrexham's home clash against Barnsley will range from around $11 (£8.70) for general admission to $131 (£103.58) for premium seats.

Here are the matches that will be shown:

  • Wrexham v Barnsley – Tuesday 3 December, 2.45pm (ET)
  • Sheffield United v Burnley – Thursday 26 December, 10.00am (ET)
  • Wrexham v Birmingham City – Thursday 23 January, 3.00pm (ET)
  • Coventry City v Leeds United – Saturday 8 February, 10.00am (ET)
  • Huddersfield Town v Wrexham – Tuesday 4 March, 7.45pm (ET)*

As pointed out by the EFL, match start time is subject to moving for broadcast, as part of domestic TV selections made beyond the end of February
