Troy Deeney went on Celebrity Mastermind and failed to get a SINGLE answer right in his specialist subject

He struggled.

Troy Deeney went on Celebrity Mastermind and failed to answer a single question right in his specialist subject.

Last night Deeney took charge of his first game in management, guiding Forest Green Rovers to a 0-0 draw with Gillingham in League Two.

Unfortunately for Deeney, the internet was less focused on the former Watford striker’s first taste of management and more interested in his dismal performance on Celebrity Mastermind.

The episode, which aired at the same time as Forest Green’s Gillingham encounter, saw Deeney pick up no points when attempting to answer questions on his 'specialist subject'.

The 35-year-old opted to be questioned exclusively on Sam Raimi's Spiderman film trilogy but was unable to answer a single one correctly.

Deeney took the humiliation with good humour, chuckling as he exited the stage.

“That chair, this atmosphere,” host Clive Myrie said after Deeney’s round.

“It's intense,” Deeney agreed before Myrie announced he had finished with “no points”.

Deeney fared better in the general knowledge round, claiming the six points necessary to hand him third place, behind winner OJ Borg and runner-up Jasmine Harman.

Earlier this week, Deeney was handed his first managerial post at Forest Green, after the sacking of Dave Horseman.

The striker joined the club as a player-coach back in August but was promoted to the top job with the League Two outfit at risk of relegation to non-league after a run of one win in seven matches.

Deeney had previously led sessions on Mondays, before training the rest of the week with the players. However, he has now taken up responsibilities on a full-time basis, with Forest Green rooted 23rd in the table.

“One thing I can assure everyone is that we will work our very hardest to bring this wonderful club back to success,” said Deeney.

“This is an exciting new role with many challenges that I’ll embrace. And there’s a lot of work for us to do, which has already started.”
