Former Premier League forward Troy Deeney has slammed a current Manchester United player and dared him to invite him around to his house in the same fashion he has to another ex-player in recent weeks.
Deeney, who represented clubs such as Watford, Birmingham City and Forest Green during his playing career, appeared to threaten the player in question in what was a scathing rant on ‘The Football Exchange: Troy Deeney and Alex Goldberg’.
When speaking about United’s recent run of good form since Michael Carrick’s arrival as head coach, the Englishman focused on Lisandro Martinez’s feud with ex-United midfielders Nicky Butt and Paul Scholes.
Ahead of the Manchester derby on January 17, the pair made some negative comments about the Argentina international when speaking on ‘The Good, The Bad & The Football’.

Butt said: “[Erling] Haaland would pick Martinez up and run with him. You know, when you see a dad at school running down the road with a little toddler.”
Scholes then jokingly replied: “He’d score, then throw him in the net.”

And after helping United to a 2-0 win over City in which he performed well, Martinez appeared to hit back at Scholes and Butt and suggested that he “already told him [presumably Butt]” that “if he wants to say something to me, he can come to wherever he wants” including his “house”.
Some fans praised Martinez’s response, while others held a different view, including Deeney, who slammed the defender when speaking on Sunday (January 25).
“Nicky Butt will punch you into next week,” Deeney claimed.
“Let me tell you that.
“If one of these lads, Roy Keane, Nicky Butt, turned up at his gaff, he'd be phoning the police in 25 seconds. Like, this whole f**king, I'm a tough guy.”
After praising Martinez’s ability as a footballer, Deeney’s rant continued as the former striker described Butt as a "tidy individual”.
“But you ain't calling people to come around to your house and have a chat,” the former Watford man continued.
“That's basically saying, ‘If you've got a problem, let's go outside and handle it like men’, which I respect.”
The 37-year-old did not stop there, though, and claimed that Butt would “tuck you in” before suggesting that Martinez calling out the 51-year-old was similar to the behaviour expected of teenage kids.
“Invite me. I f**king dare you,” Deeney finished.
