Spanish media make their feelings clear on Trent Alexander-Arnold after second Real Madrid game vs Pachuca

Real Madrid were in action against Pachuca on Sunday.

Media outlets in Spain have reacted to Trent Alexander-Arnold's second appearance for Real Madrid.

After being criticised on his debut against Al Hilal, Alexander-Arnold started for Madrid again as they took on Mexican side Pachuca at the FIFA Club World Cup.

Xabi Alonso's men produced a much-improved performance as goals from Jude Bellingham, Arda Guler and Federico Valverde sealed a 3-1 win. Elias Montiel was the scorer for Pachuca.

Following a difficult start to life as a Madrid player, Alexander-Arnold impressed against Pachuca, drawing plaudits from the Spanish media.

MARCA claimed that the full-back showed exactly why Madrid signed him from Liverpool.

The report stated: "Trent Alexander-Arnold impressed amid sweltering heat. Trent had contributed significantly by displaying his trademark ability to drift centrally from full-back, he delivered a sharp ball across to Garcia, showing what Alonso should expect when he's up to speed in the system.

"The Englishman, criticised for a nervy debut against Al-Hilal, responded with composure, positional intelligence, and sharp ball distribution. When he was substituted in the 78th minute, the crowd acknowledged his performance with applause."

Meanwhile, AS suggested that 'Trent left good details' during the match before being taken off in the 78th minute, replaced by Antonio Rudiger.

Speaking about Alexander-Arnold after the final whistle, Madrid boss Alonso said: "[Alexander-Arnold] has done it at Liverpool and in the national team. He is a different full-back, not just from the outside lane.

"He can go inside a little bit and associate. What happens around is important... having his foot and his understanding of the game is very positive."

Touching on his team's overall performance, the Spaniard added: "We took a lot of positives from the game, especially the three points. We weren't able to show what we've been working on. We had to adapt to the game by staying balanced and maintaining possession so that the players felt comfortable."

Madrid will be back in action on Thursday when they take on Austrian outfit RB Salzburg at the Lincoln Financial Field.
