Steph Houghton has spoken out to reveal what she thinks about Leonardo Bonucci after his brutal tackle during Soccer Aid.

On Sunday evening evening, England faced off against World XI in the 2025 Soccer Aid clash at Old Trafford, raising £15 million for UNICEF.

Several footballers and celebrities made their debut during the match, including former Lionesses captain Houghton who impressed after coming on shortly after the hour mark.

England went into half-time 2-0 up thanks to goals from Wayne Rooney and Toni Duggan, before Jermain Defoe scored their third early in the second half.

But a spectacular comeback inspired by former Manchester City and United forward Carlos Tevez, who netted four goals in the match, and rapper and TV personality Big Zuu secured a 5-4 for the World XI.

However, while Tevez and Zuu's goals will no doubt have attracted serious attention, perhaps the most viral moment of the match came when Houghton was brutally tackled by former Juventus star Bonucci.

As the three-time WSL winner made a break down the right flank, the Italian defender, who was also making his Soccer Aid debut, came across and collided into her in a clip that has since gone viral online.

Although Bonucci was able to play on, match referee Rebecca Welch stopped the match after spotting Houghton writhing in agony on the ground.

And now, Houghton has finally spoken out to have her say on the moment with a post on her Instagram account.

Posting on her story, the former Lioness shared a photo of the incident and the pair embracing after the match, writing: "It'll be sore in the morning they said! We're still mates tho."

Shortly after the match Bonucci also reacted to the moment with a post on his Instagram account, sharing a photo of the two after the match with the cheeky caption, "She's still alive!!".

Houghton later reposted the picture to her story and wrote, "My guy" with a smiley emoji - and also liked Bonucci's main post from the game.

Unfortunately, Houghton's England teammate Angry Ginge wasn't quite so happy about some of the challenges made on him during the match, as he later took to social media to hit out at Tevez with a brutal x-rated comment.
