Sergio Ramos could be set to make a return to European football after spending 2025 at Mexican club Monterrey.
Ramos is regarded as one of the greatest defenders of all time, winning 22 trophies in a 16 year spell at Real Madrid which included 4 Champions League wins.
The former Madrid star has been a free agent since early December after his contract with the Liga MX side concluded.
“It’s never easy to say goodbye," Ramos wrote on social media following his last appearance for the club.

"A stage of my career that began with so much excitement in February has come to an end."
Ramos added: "I have left everything on the pitch and off it to be able to give my very best.
"I’ll always look back fondly on this stage of my career and I’ll always be proud to say ¡Arriba el Monterrey!"

Despite turning 40 next month, Ramos is keen to continue his playing career at the top level, and even offered to play for free to return to boyhood club Sevilla which was rejected.
The decision to reject Ramos' stems from the Spanish internationals ambitions to invest in the La Liga club, which would have made him a boardroom rival of current club president José María del Nido Carrasco.
However, Sevilla are not Ramos' only option at a final stint in Europe, with Spanish journalist Roberto Gómez reporting via fichajes, that Ramos is in talks with French side Marseille.
The report claims that the defender's experience, leadership, and competitive spirit are a 'perfect fit' for the Ligue 1 club who are looking to heighten their ambitions.
Talks are progressing well with no foreseen issues expected as it stands, with official confirmation expected relatively quickly as things stand.
Marseille currently sit 3rd in the league, nine points behind champions and league leaders PSG who they play this weekend.
