Real Madrid legend Ronaldo Nazario didn't hesitate as he snubbed Zinedine Zidane when picking his best-ever teammate.

Having won two World Cups, two Ballon d'Ors and scored over 350 career goals for both club and country, Ronaldo Nazario is undoubtedly one of the greatest players that the sport has ever seen.

Another player who often comes up regularly in conversations surrounding football's best players, is Ronaldo's former teammate Zidane, who is viewed as perhaps the best midfielder of all-time.

However, despite being a World Cup winner, a European champion for club and country, and a three-time World Player of the Year, Ronaldo opted not to pick the Frenchman when naming his best-ever teammate.

Ronaldo and Zidane played together for Real Madrid between 2002 and 2006, making a total of 140 appearances together and combing to score a total of 31 goals.

However, the Brazilian instead opted for a player before his time at Bernabeu, as he named former PSV striker Luc Nilis as the best player he ever played alongside.

"I played with people like Figo, Romario, Zidane, Rivaldo, Djorkaeff and Raul, but nobody was like him," said Ronaldo of Nilis in an interview with Sport TV. "He was simply fantastic, certainly the best teammate I've ever had."

Both Ronaldo and Nilis arrived at the Dutch club in 1994 and, although they were only together for two years before the Brazilian legend moved to Barcelona.

During their time together Nilis scored 44 goals, while Ronaldo found the back of the net 54 times, and they went on to win the KNVB Cup together.

Nilis went on to win the Dutch championship with PSV after Ronaldo's departure and went on to form a lethal partnership with Ruud van Nistelrooy before departing for the Premier League to join Aston Villa just weeks before a double compound fracture of his shin prevented him from playing again.

But the Belgian decided to remained in football, taking on a number of coaching roles and a handful of assistant manager positions, including at PSV. He's also seen as somewhat a cult figure at Villa Park, as fans question what might have been.
