Real Madrid legend Zinedine Zidane has revealed the best footballer he has ever played with and he had some very high praise for them.

Zidane is widely considered to be one of the greatest midfielders of all time, winning several trophies and awards, including the Ballon d'Or.

Not only was the Frenchman a generational footballer, but he is also one of the best managers in the sport, having recently led former club Real Madrid to three Champions League trophies and two La Liga titles.

However, there is one player who Zidane believes clearly stood out from the rest as the best player he has ever played with.

The midfielder named Ronaldo as his greatest ever teammate, having played alongside the Brazilian legend at Real Madrid during the famous Galacticos era.

Speaking to Goal, via Bleacher Report, he said: "I've always seen Ronaldo as the best because I played and trained with him. He's probably the best I ever played with. He did what he wanted with the ball and didn't have any weaknesses.

"When he decided to express himself with the ball, he did whatever he wanted. Technically, no player has impressed me more than Ronaldo.

"There was no system or tactics that could stop him. It's like that with a few players and he was one of them—he was fast and skilled.

"When Ronaldo had the ball, he ran at 2000 miles per hour. In most cases, you're' fast without the ball. He was fast with it."

Between 2002 and 2006, Zidane and Ronaldo played alongside each other in 140 matches and combined to create an impressive 31 goals.

Zidane had also played alongside several other greats in the sport such as Luis Figo, Raul and David Beckham, so picking Ronaldo so convincingly is high praise for the striker.

Of course, the Brazilian is one of the greatest forwards the sport has ever seen, scoring 295 goals in 453 club matches during his career, which included spells at Madrid, AC Milan and Barcelona.

Internationally, Ronaldo remains one of Brazil's best players, scoring 62 goals in 99 appearances and lifting the World Cup twice in 1994 and 2002.
