Romelu Lukaku hits back at ‘lies’ with cryptic message on Instagram

Romelu Lukaku’s future continues to dominate the headlines

Romelu Lukaku has appeared to hit back at recent reports about his future with a cryptic message on Instagram.

Ever since the 22/23 season concluded, the future of Lukaku has been one of the main talking points.

Currently, he is still a Chelsea player after spending last season on loan at Serie A side Inter Milan.

It has been reported that he is looking for a new club after new Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino made clear that Lukaku is not part of his plans.

The Belgian has not travelled with the Chelsea squad on their pre-season tour in the United States.

According to Italian news outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, the Inter squad has given Lukaku the cold shoulder after he held talks with rivals Juventus over a potential transfer.

It has been claimed that Lukaku wants to return to Inter but the club are against bringing the Belgian striker back.

However, this recent report seemed to anger Lukaku as he took to social media to post a cryptic message, which could be aimed at the media.

He wrote on Instagram: “When the hate don’t work they start telling lies….”

After news of Lukaku speaking to Juventus surfaced, he was accused of betraying the club by Inter ultras.

The Curva Nord group wrote: “Those who betrayed you will do it again, not because they enjoy it, but because it falls within their nature.

“Yes, because you Romelu betrayed all of us, who defended you to the sword during your difficult period.”

It continued: “We defended you when the fans of the team that sought you mocked you, now you repay us with a stab worthy of Brutus.

“You kissed the badge that is worth more than our lives to us and now like a vile cheap mercenary you're selling yourself to the highest bidder.

“Before being a champion you have to be a man. And you're not.”

In recent weeks, Lukaku has also been linked with a big-money move to the Middle East with Saudi Professional League clubs targeting the Belgian.
