Fans left gobsmacked by Richard Keys' unprompted attack on 'unpalatable' Sky Sports pundit

Fans left gobsmacked by Richard Keys' unprompted attack on 'unpalatable' Sky Sports pundit

Richard Keys made his feelings clear on social media.

Richard Keys has stunned fans after an unprovoked attack on one Sky Sports pundit.

Over the years, Keys has been known to be a controversial figure in the football world, having expressed his opinions on different topics on social media.

On Thursday night, the 67-year-old beIN Sports presenter left fans stunned after he took aim at Sky Sports’ former Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jamie Redknapp.

He wrote on his official X account: “What a day for bumping into unpalatable people. I just saw Jamie Redknapp. Happily I needed a No2 which was much more pleasant than stopping to talk.”

Reacting on Keys’ post, one fan said: “I’m no Jamie Redknapp fan by any means, but this seems an odd, unkind and personal public attack.”

Another tweeted: “What a strange post!”

A third fan added: “I’m sure Jamie is losing lots of sleep now because of your ridiculous comment. Strange, strange man.”

Someone else wrote: “I bet Redknapp was gutted..”

A fifth commented: “What's the back story to this?”

Another fan said: “Have you been hacked?”

Recently, while speaking on The Obi One Podcast, Keys took aim at Jamie Carragher, he said: “If it's OK to spit on teenagers and continue to be employed then great. For me that was far more a serious offence - but I'm not making the judgement on that!

“I was pleased he didn't [get sacked] as it gave me the opportunity to say to you guys, when you consider what happened to us, for the 'crimes' we were accused of (and accept) and what he did on film... there's no comparison.”

Keys also waded in on Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag’s future, he wrote: “How many times have I said he lives in a parallel universe? It’s embarrassing. Remember – this is Manchester Uniiiited.

“I’d sack him now. No. I’d have sacked him in the summer. Maybe even before that. He’s not the right man to manage United. He’s reducing them to a laughing stock. ‘I’m not Harry Potter’, he went on to tell reporters. He’s right. I’d say more Graham Potter!”
