Mason Greenwood scores stunning goal for Getafe, it was unstoppable

Mason Greenwood is in La Liga action for Getafe

Mason Greenwood has scored a stunning goal for Getafe against Almeria.

On Saturday evening, Getafe hosted Almeria at the Coliseum for their La Liga clash.

The hosts found themselves 1-0 down inside seven minutes after Largie Ramazani opened the scoring.

However, with 34 minutes on the clock, Greenwood, who joined Getafe on loan from Manchester United during the summer transfer window, pulled something out of the very top drawer.

The Englishman cut in from the right-hand side before unleashing an unstoppable left-footed shot past goalkeeper Luis Maximiano into the top corner. You can watch the goal below.

Getafe went into the break 2-1 up after Borja Mayoral scored in the 45th minute.

Greenwood left United on loan to Getafe after it was confirmed that a mutual decision was reached for the forward to continue his career away from Old Trafford.

Greenwood was suspended by United in January 2022 after being arrested and later charged with attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour and assault.

All charges against Greenwood were dropped in February after key witnesses withdrew their involvement in the case and new material came to light during the police investigation.

Over the last few weeks, there have been reports that United could look to bring Greenwood back to the club.

It comes after Paul Mitchell – who has been tipped to become Manchester United's new sporting director under Sir Jim Ratcliffe – was spotted watching Greenwood at Getafe.

According to The Sun, Greenwood would like to extend his stay with the Spanish club.

A source told the publication: “The players and fans have all given him a welcome he could only have dreamed of.

“He really feared his career was over. Now he’s just so happy and wants to carry on playing and not think too far ahead.”
