Manchester United have a secret clause in Mason Greenwood's Marseille deal amid the 24-year-old's impressive form in France.
When charges of rape, assault and controlling and coercive behaviour - all of which Greenwood denied - were dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service - it was mutually agreed between United and the youth product that it was best for him to continue his career away from Old Trafford.
That decision was reached following an extensive internal review that the club conducted, with United stating it "has therefore been mutually agreed that it would be "most appropriate" for his career to commence elsewhere.
Greenwood subsequently joined La Liga side Getafe on loan and scored 10 goals on his return to professional football.
When that spell finished, Greenwood signed with Ligue One side Marseille on a permanent basis in 2024 for a fee of £26.6 million.

United have never been interested in a return for Greenwood and feel as though a comeback isn't appropriate.
However they are in line to benefit if he does move on from the Stade Veledrome. When Greenwood completed his move and signed a five-year contract, United inserted a 40 per cent sell-on-fee in his Marseille deal.
That means for any future transfer which sees Greenwood move on from Marseille, United will pocket nearly half of the fee.
In October, reports claimed that Barcelona were the frontunners for Greenwood, who they have had a long-time interest in,
The same report from TEAMTalk started that a Premier League return could be on the cards, with Tottenham and West Ham said to be keen.

Greenwood helped Marseille to a 2-1 win over Newcastle in the Champions League in November and is in action against another English side on Wednesday when they host Liverpool.
Greenwood, who switched international allegiance to Jamaica but is yet to feature, has been joined in Marseille by Arsenal's Ethan Nwanieri after he joined Roberto De Zerbi's loan at Arsenal.
