Scott McTominay's weekly salary at Napoli 'leaked' and Man Utd fans won't believe how much he earns

The former Manchester United midfielder has earned Diego Maradona comparisons for his impact on Napoli.

Scott McTominay's weekly salary at Napoli has been 'leaked' - and the amount will surely surprise some Manchester United fans.

McTominay ended a 22-year association with United last summer when he signed for Napoli for a reported fee of £25.7 million.

The Scot joined a side that had finished 10th in the previous Serie A season, having endured a nightmare defence of the title they won in 2022/23.

But the club appointed Antonio Conte as manager and, with the Italian helped by high-profile signings such as McTominay, Romelu Lukaku and David Neres, currently sit second in the table.

McTominay quickly became a popular figure among local Italian media, and has netted eight Serie A goals this season.

Two of those came in Monday's 3-0 win over Empoli, a performance for which the Scot earned the Player of the Match award.

McTominay is one of Napoli's highest earners - but the exact amount he earns is notable compared to Premier League stars.

As per Capology, the Scot earns a yearly salary of €5.56 million (£4.75 million), or around €107,000 (£91,500) per week.

If accurate, the figure would put him below 15 Manchester United stars in terms of yearly earnings (via Spotrac).

He earns slightly more than Diogo Dalot and Rasmus Hojlund (£4.4 million per year), while Alejandro Garnacho (£2.7 million) and Kobbie Mainoo (£1.04 million) being the only first team regulars at Old Trafford who earn less than McTominay's reported wage.

The Scot earns nearly four times less than the top earner at United, Brazil midfielder Casemiro (£18.2 million).

But his United salary was, in fact, reportedly even lower than what he is now.

The Daily Star claimed in March 2024 that United were considering whether to hand the midfielder a new contract which would double his existing wage of £60,000.

Of course, the contract was never agreed and the Scot was allowed to move to Italy, where he will hope to add a Scudetto to his trophy cabinet at the end of this season.
