Scott McTominay could finally link up with a player Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wanted him to partner at Manchester United five years ago.

Academy graduate McTominay left United for Napoli in a dirt-cheap fee of £25 million last summer and proceeded to fire Napoli to a historic Serie A title win under Antonio Conte.

The Scotland international became an instant hit with supporters of the Naples outfit, scoring 12 goals as they won their fourth league title on the final day.

McTominay scored a stunning opening goal in the 2-0 victory over Cagliari which clinched the Scudetto and was named the league's MVP of the season after an exceptional debut campaign.

Napoli are gearing up for a return to the Champions League next term and A Bola say the club are looking to bring in Benfica midfielder Florentino Luis, who is also attracting interest from fellow Serie A clubs Juventus and Atalanta and Premier League sides Everton and Burnley.

Luis, 25, has racked up 141 appearances for Benfica and won two league titles in Portugal, as well as impressing in the Champions League.

Napoli are said to be best placed to secure his signature, with Benfica looking for a fee of €30 million but willing to negotiate slightly lower as they have a ready-made replacement in €12 million January signing Manu Silva - who is returning from injury.

His exit is said to be a "very strong possibility" despite having a contract until 2027.

Luis could have moved a lot earlier as back in 2020, it was reported by ESPN that United were keen on acquiring the then-20-year-old.

The player's agent Bruno Carvalho Santo met with United officials in January 2020 and conversations continued, though no transfer ever materialised.

Instead, Luis, nicknamed 'The Octopus' for his incredible ability to cover ground and regain possession, was loaned out to Monaco and Getafe - who both had the option to purchase him permanently.

He enjoyed a breakthrough campaign under Roger Schmidt in the 2022/23 campaign and has never looked back.

Napoli have already been busy in the transfer market, snapping up Manchester City legend Kevin De Bruyne on a free transfer after he bid farewell following 10 trophy-laden years at the Etihad Stadium.

They also added to their defensive options by signing Luca Marianucci from Empoli, for a fee said to be around €9 million.
