Manchester United fans have been reacting on social media after watching the Red Devils in action against Bournemouth.

On Monday night, United returned to Premier League action by welcoming Bournemouth to Old Trafford.

Heading into the match, United were looking to make it back-to-back victories after their 4-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers last week.

Meanwhile, Andoni Iraola's men have endured a tough run, having failed to win since their 2-0 victory against Nottingham Forest back in October.

United made a promising start to the match and were rewarded in the 13th minute when Amad Diallo headed in to make it 1-0.

Speaking on Sky Sports, ex-United defender Gary Neville said: "Man Utd are sustaining attacks. Bournemouth can't get out at the moment. Man Utd are rampant. They're all over them. It's been a really good 25 minutes."

With five minutes to go until half-time, Bournemouth drew level through talisman Antoine Semenyo.

However, United made it 2-1 in stoppage time in the first half thanks to Casemiro, whose header somehow managed to beat Cherries goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic.

Taking to social media, some United fans have noticed that Ruben Amorim has made slight changes to his usual 3-4-3 formation.

One fan said: "The change in formation has contributed to a fast start from Manchester United. Amad Diallo pushing further upfield allows him to pressurise the Bournemouth defence, who are getting stretched. The issue will be what happens when Bournemouth counter as Casemiro will have to plug."

Another tweeted: "It does appear Amorim has tweaked the formation somewhat… we have more players forward. Yoro is out further wide and Amad is definitely further up the pitch when we attack in a more traditional “winger” position."

A third fan added: "For whatever it's worth, and there are a lot of crossings-out on my notepad, but I think United are playing a 3-1-5-1 formation. Is that even a thing?"

Someone else wrote: "Best 15 minutes we’ve played under Amorim , was a formation change really this hard?"

A fifth commented: "Tryin to work out the formation. It’s fluid. It isn’t 343. It’s defo a back 4. But it’s at times 433, sometimes 442. Sometimes it looks like 442 diamond."

What did Ruben Amorim say about Man Utd's formation change?

Speaking prior to the match, Amorim hinted at a possible formation change, primarily due to players going to AFCON.

He said: "It’s a good opportunity for us to try to play in a different way. I think we need to work on the variability of the way we play, especially in the build-up.

"I think I need to find different ways to take all the juice from the team, from the squad. I’m just trying to find out solutions to win more games."
