Sky Sports 'take action' after Roy Keane involved in furious altercation with Ipswich fan during Man Utd draw

Roy Keane was involved in a heated exchange with a fan while working for Sky Sports on Manchester United's draw with Ipswich.

Sky Sports have taken action after Roy Keane was involved in a heated altercation with a fan on Sunday.

Keane was at Portman Road to watch his former clubs Ipswich Town and Manchester United meet in the Premier League, with the hosts claiming a point in Ruben Amorim's first game in charge after Omari Hutchinson cancelled out Marcus Rashford's strike.

The Irishman was back pitchside at Ipswich, where he managed for two years, and provided punditry for Sky alongside Izzy Christiansen and Jamie Redknapp.

But flares tempered as during an advert break, Keane got into it with an Ipswich fan who was giving him abuse for his spell in charge of the Tractor Boys over a decade ago.

Footage from the Daily Mail showed Keane put down his microphone and head over to the front row to confront the fan, with a second clip from closer to the scene capturing the Irishman telling the supporters, "I’ll wait for you in the car park and we can discuss it!".

The supporter in question appears to be Neil Finbow, who took to Facebook to give his version of events. He claimed he vented at Keane and "reminded him that he set us back five years and ruined our football club", as well as telling him he "wasn't fit to step foot anywhere near our ground" among other jibes.

Ipswich security staff intervened to take the fan away after Keane calmly headed back to his position.

According to The Sun's chief sports reporter Martin Lipton, Sky Sports are looking into the matter and have asked Redknapp, Christiansen, presenter Kelly Cates and production staff present to give their take on what happened so that the executives have a better understanding of the situation.

The report stresses that no further action is expected and there have been some conversations about Keane requiring extra security going forward.

In June, a man was found guilty of common assault against Keane after an alleged headbutt at a game between Arsenal and Manchester United in September 2023.

Scott Law was handed a three-year banning order and ordered to pay costs amounting to £764.
