Manchester United have reportedly promised to triple a player’s salary in an attempt to prise him to Old Trafford as they face competition from a Champions League club.
Since Michael Carrick replaced Ruben Amorim as Manchester United head coach in early January, the mood around the club has lifted, with the side winning three — against Manchester City, Arsenal and Fulham — and drawing one - against West Ham United - of their four Premier League matches.
Summer signings Senne Lammens, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha have all made telling contributions since joining United, with the two forwards contributing 16 goals between them.
Despite United’s upturn in form, with the Red Devils currently fourth in the Premier League with 12 games remaining, the future remains uncertain, with Carrick under contract until the conclusion of the current campaign.

As a result, transfers may be influenced by the decision on Carrick’s future, while the arrival of another manager could see the recruitment strategy take a different direction.
However, one man who has been linked with a Premier League transfer for some time is Borussia Dortmund right-back Julian Ryerson.
The 28-year-old Norway international is a right-back by trade but can also play further up, as he has done for the Bundesliga side this season.
The Scandinavian has registered 13 assists in 29 appearances so far this term while playing as a right wing-back under Niko Kovac.
Ryerson is contracted to Dortmund until June 2028 and is considered to be worth £30–35 million by the German side, according to TeamTalk.
As reported by Sports Boom, Newcastle United are also keen on the full-back and see him as a possible replacement for the ageing Kieran Trippier, who turns 36 in September and is in the final season of his current deal with the Magpies.

It is claimed that the player is open to a move to the Premier League and would join either club.
The outlet added: “While Dortmund officially maintains Ryerson is ‘not for sale’, sources suggest the player is privately open to a Premier League challenge.
“The prospect of tripling his current salary in England is a major factor that could see negotiations accelerate as the season nears its conclusion.”
The Dortmund man currently earns a reported £83,000 per week, according to Capology.
If Ryerson were to join United, he would compete with Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui for a spot in the starting XI.
