Declan Rice's mentality has been praised following his comments in his post-match interview after Arsenal's draw against Brentford.

Arsenal resumed their Premier League campaign on Thursday against Brentford after Manchester City beat Fulham 3-0 on Wednesday to put pressure on Mikel Arteta's side.

But the Gunners failed to restore their six-point lead at the top of the table after being held by Keith Andrews' team.

Noni Madueke opened the scoring in the 61st minute after he headed home from Piero Hincapie's cross.

Keane Lewis-Potter levelled 10 minutes later when he headed past David Raya from a long-throw.

Both sides had chances late on as the points were shared at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Arsenal have dropped more points in the title race, having lost to Manchester United and drawn at Nottingham Forest last month.

After the game, Rice conducted a post-match interview, where he expressed the importance of not losing games.

He said: "If you can’t win a game, don’t lose. We’re still four points clear at the top and we’ve got to keep looking forward. It’s been a rollercoaster of a season - if anyone thinks it’s going to be easy going for the title, they’re naive."

Rice's mindset was commended by Arsenal fans on social media as they believe he should be made captain.

One X user wrote: "Good interview, stop f**king about and just make him the captain," while another said: "That is the mentality that we need."

A third added: "Spot on, Dec! That 'can't win, don't lose' mentality is what'll get us over the line."

Declan Rice: 'It might be a valuable point towards the end'

Rice hailed Brentford and the job Andrews has done since his appointment before claiming the point could be a valuable one at the end.

"They’re an amazing team, they’re seventh in the league and Keith Andrews has got them playing really, really well,' he told the club's website. "They’re so effective at how they play, and we prepared for that. We knew what was coming.

"It might be a valuable point towards the end. The only thing we can do is just keep worrying about ourselves like we’ve been doing. We’ve been on an amazing run this season, the performances have been incredible. If you look at the amount of games we’ve played and how many we’ve won, we’ve lost three in all competitions all season.

"So let’s take the positives, keep going, keep pushing, keep sticking together. Everyone’s needed on this road to the end. There’s a long way to go but we’re positive."

Arsenal travel to Wolves in their next league fixture on February 18.
