Manchester United are reportedly interested in hiring a shock name to take over from Michael Carrick.
Following the sacking of Ruben Amorim earlier in the month, ex-Red Devils stars Carrick and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer emerged as the favourites as United looked to bring in an interim boss.
In the end, it was Carrick who got the nod, and he will be in the Old Trafford dugout for the remainder of the 25/26 season.
Last weekend, Carrick started his reign with a huge win over rivals Manchester City.

Thanks to goals from Bryan Mbeumo and Patrick Dorgu, United beat City 2-0 at Old Trafford.
Looking ahead, the likes of Oliver Glasner, Gareth Southgate, Thomas Tuchel and Julian Nagelsmann have all been linked with a summer move to Old Trafford.
However, a shock candidate has reportedly been included in United's shortlist.

According to Sky Germany, Borussia Dortmund boss Niko Kovac could be a potential candidate to replace Carrick in the summer.
The 54-year-old has also been linked with the likes of Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur in the past.
Reporter Patrick Berger wrote on social media: "BVB Coach Niko Kovac enjoys a good reputation in England. According to Sky reports, he is on Manchester United's shortlist and was recently a candidate at FC Chelsea following the Maresca split.
"In the summer of 2021, Tottenham also wanted him, but he turned it down at the time."

It has been claimed that United 'have inquired about Kovac's situation'.
Dortmund are going well under Kovac as they currently sit second in the Bundesliga and are in 10th place in the UEFA Champions League.
Prior to taking charge of Dortmund, Kovac has managed clubs like VfL Wolfsburg, Monaco, Bayern Munich, Eintracht Frankfurt and the Croatian national team.
