Michael Carrick Told Man Utd Player Will Be Phased Out From Next Season

The Manchester United player's future appears to lie away from Old Trafford.

A Manchester United player appears set to leave at the end of the season as senior figures have made their feelings known.

Carrick, who replaced Ruben Amorim earlier this month, has enjoyed a blistering start to life as Man United manager.

He began his reign with a stunning 2-0 home win over cross-city rivals Manchester City before turning over Arsenal at the Emirates, securing a famous 3-2 victory last Sunday.

Carrick has penned a deal until the end of the 2025/26 season but Man United are planning for the future, having announced that Casemiro will leave at the end of the campaign when his deal expires.

Casemiro, who joined in the summer of 2022, said: "I will carry Manchester United with me throughout my entire life.

"From the first day that I walked out at this beautiful stadium, I felt the passion of Old Trafford and the love that I now share with our supporters for this special club.

"It is not time to say goodbye; there are many more memories to create during the next four months."

Several names have been linked with a move to Man United in the wake of Casemiro's impending departure, including Crystal Palace'a Adam Wharton, whose future took a stunning twist following a major update.

It appears the Red Devils will continue to trim their squad next summer, having parted ways with the likes of Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho and Antony.

And, according to The Daily Mail, Harry Maguire appears set to leave Old Trafford at the end of the season.

Maguire's existing deal comes to an end in the summer and he has yet to agree a new contract with Man United, suggesting his future lies elsewhere.

That's despite starring in the past two games, including a Man of the Match showing against Arsenal.

Even though the 32-year-old has looked stellar at the back against Man City and Arsenal, senior Man United figures are keen to phase him out.

The publication claim Man United chiefs want to see next season's minutes go to Leny Yoro and Ayden Heaven, with the report stating they view the two young defenders as the 'bedrock of the backline for years to come'.

Carrick is a 'fan' of Maguire, but it seems unlikely his stay at Man United will be extended beyond this season.

Who could sign Harry Maguire?

Given his experience and the fact that he will be a free transfer, Maguire is an attractive proposition and represents a lot of value.

Per the report, he is not short of interest with 'multiple clubs in Italy enquiring with a view to a pre-contract agreement'.

And there is also a 'handful of Premier League teams who are very keen on a free transfer in the summer', with West Ham United nearly recruiting him in the summer of 2023.

West Ham could reignite their pursuit as they seek defensive reinforcements.
