Michael Carrick has sent a clear message to Sir Jim Ratcliffe over the Manchester United manager's job beyond the end of the season.
Carrick is currently interim manager of United until the end of the season, having replaced the sacked Ruben Amorim last month.
The 44-year-old secured four consecutive wins to kick off his reign, including a 3-2 away win at Premier League leaders Arsenal.
United's momentum was then halted by a 1-1 midweek draw at West Ham earlier this month, though Benjamin Sesko did score an equaliser in second-half stoppage time.

As United are already out of the domestic cups, and do not play in Europe this season, they will have had a 13-day break by the time they take on Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Monday.

While their lack of progress in other competitions has been financially detrimental to the club, Carrick can at least have plenty of time on the training pitch with the squad to get across his tactical ideals.
United currently sit in fourth place in the Premier League, 13 points behind leaders Arsenal.
Up until now, Carrick has been non-committal whenever asked about whether he would like to stay in his role beyond the summer, with his interim contract expiring at the end of June.
But in the latest episode of BBC Sport's 'The Football Interview', Carrick was asked by presenter Mark Chapman about whether he could say anything more than a 'stock answer' about his United future - and he gave a revealing response.
"It's not a stock answer - for me, it's the ultimate role," he said. "I'm really enjoying it. I love what I'm doing.

"I'm fortunate. I feel privileged to be in the position I am, but ... I believe I can do it and I'm here to do it."
"I said it when I came in - there's the sentimental side of that... of understanding the role and coming through the club and being here, and loving the club, and being a supporter, and all that side of it, is one thing.
"But, actually, I'm here to do a job now and to make a good team and be successful.
"I don't decide how long that's going to be but I love being here and, while I'm here, I'll give everything I can. And I always plan for the long-term future for the benefit of the football club. That's how I believe it should be."
"I'm loving what I'm doing," Carrick continued. "Really good people. The staff are fantastic, the players have been unbelievable.
"It's a really good place to come in every single day - to drive in and look forward to being here."
