Mason Greenwood 'emerges as target for two La Liga giants' including Champions League club

Greenwood is reportedly wanted by two clubs.

Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood has emerged as a target for two La Liga clubs next summer, according to new reports.

Greenwood is currently on loan at fellow La Liga side Getafe, where he has scored four goals and provided three assists in 11 appearances in all competitions.

He netted twice as Getafe thrashed sixth tier side Tardienta 12-0 in the Copa del Rey last month, scoring on 15 and 55 minutes before being substituted on the hour mark.

And he also scored during his side's 2-1 win over Almeria at the weekend as Jose Bordalas' side extended their unbeaten run to nine games.

The 21-year-old will be leaving Manchester United after the club reached its verdict on an internal investigation into the player's behaviour.

Greenwood was suspended by United after being arrested on suspicion of rape and assault in January 2022. He was subsequently charged with attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The charges were discontinued in February, with the CPS stating that 'a combination of the withdrawal of key witnesses and new material that came to light meant there was no longer a realistic prospect of conviction'.

Greenwood remains under contract at Old Trafford until 2025, with United taking the decision to loan him out to Getafe on transfer deadline day.

In coming off the bench for his new side during a 3-2 win over Osasuna in September, the 21-year-old made his first appearance since January 2022.

Now, a source has told The Sun that two La Liga clubs have identified Greenwood as a target for next summer.

The report claims that the clubs in question are Valencia and Real Sociedad, with both clubs having allegedly sent scouts to watch the forward in action.

Sociedad are currently top of their Champions League group, having collected 10 points from their four games thus far in this season's competition.

The same source added to The Sun that it is 'highly unlikely' that Greenwood will return to United upon the expiry of his loan deal at Getafe.
