A surprise update on Marcus Rashford's situation at Manchester United has emerged after the conclusion of the Premier League season.
Rashford spent the second half of the campaign on loan at Aston Villa after being frozen out by Ruben Amorim, who was not happy with his performance level in training.
The 27-year-old scored four times and assisted a further six in all competitions for Villa and returned to the England squad under Thomas Tuchel after an improvement in form, which saw him help Unai Emery's side reach the Champions League quarter finals.
Rashford played his final game of the season a few weeks ago after suffering a hamstring injury which ruled him out for the last stretch and his absence was sorely felt as Villa missed out on Champions League qualification following a 2-0 defeat to his parent club on the final day.

Marcus Rashford's Man United future taks surprise twist
However, in a shock twist, Steve Bates from GiveMeSport is reporting that Rashford could end up staying at United after fall.
A recent report claims the situation with Rashford is to be "a major talking point" in meetings between Amorim and those involved in the club's recruitment.
Because of the failure to qualify for the Champions League after losing the Europa League final to Spurs, United's financial situation has taken another dent and it could lead to a scenario where Rashford remains at Old Trafford should he and Amorim clear the air and turn a new leaf.
A report from The Times earlier this month claimed that Rashford, still valued at £40 million wants to play in the Champions League again next season.
Potential suitors Barcelona can offer him that but it's reported that they are yet to make any approach.
Rashford was not included in Tuchel's second England squad for World Cup qualifiers with Andorra and Senegal but will no doubt want his future to be sorted out well in advance of the new campaign.
