Manchester United are reportedly ‘doing all they can’ to sign a player in the final hours of the transfer window.

United have already welcomed 18-year-old centre-back Ayden Heaven and 20-year-old full-back Patrick Dorgu.

While Marcus Rashford, Antony, Daniel Gore and Ethan Wheatley have left the club on loan.

And on Sunday, United were seemingly set to welcome highly-rated Bayern Munich 19-year-old Mathys Tel to the club.

Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg issued an update.

“Been told Mathys Tel has decided to join Manchester United with immediate effect,” he wrote on X.

“Concrete negotiations are underway between Bayern and MUFC

"Man Utd have submitted a loan offer, which Bayern immediately rejected.

"Bayern are not satisfied with the offered package from England. Bayern are pushing for an obligation to buy or a permanent transfer.

"Complicated. Talks are ongoing. Arsenal, not off."

But merely two hours later, Plettenberg took to X with a further update revealing that the negotiations had collapsed.

“The negotiations between Manchester United and FC Bayern have now completely collapsed!" he wrote. "Also from Bayern‘s point of view!

“No agreement could be reached. Not even in the last 2 hours. Bayern had rejected everything, as reported. Despite the player’s preference to join MUFC, the move to the Red Devils will not happen at this stage.

"Arsenal are still in the race, along with other options. Time is running [out]."

His fellow journalist and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed what he knows about the potential deal.

“My information is that at this time, Mathys Tel is still pushing for a loan move," Romano said on his YouTube channel.

"Bayern, on their side, are still insisting for a permanent move, loan with obligation or permanent.

“Because they had 60 million euros guaranteed from Tottenham, and the player said no. So what happens now?

“All the clubs interested in Mathys Tel are still there calling and trying to understand what happens. Man United did that in the last 48 hours, Arsenal also informed.

“So several clubs are still calling, because the player would be open to a loan move on deadline day.

"Now, it depends on what the player and Bayern will decide. If Bayern will give the green light to Mathys Tel tell or not.

“But for sure, a super interesting situation for Mathys, because there is strong interest in a potential last-minute deal. And so let's keep the story open.”

Tel has made 14 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit this season but has failed to score. He is contracted to Bayern until June 2029 and is valued at €30.00m (£25m) by Transfermarkt.
