New Manchester United singing Ayden Heaven's official shirt number has been revealed, and fans are convinced it send a clear message.

Despite reports that a deal for Denmark international Patrick Dorgu will be confirmed in the coming days, United have remained relatively quiet throughout the January transfer window.

However, while Ruben Amorim has been focused on the potential departures of Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho, other officials in the club have turned their attention to securing a deal for promising Arsenal defender Heaven.

After seeing Heaven's move to Old Trafford was confirmed on Saturday, United revealed his official shirt number, and it's got fans excited about the future of the young player.

An official club statement on Saturday morning confirmed that the 18-year-old had signed a contract with United until June 2029, with the option to extend his stay for of an additional year.

Heaven made his senior debut for Arsenal during their EFL Cup win over Preston in October, but was expected to used as a youth player at United.

But, after it was confirmed that Heaven would be wearing the number 26, United fans are convinced he could feature for the first-team in the near future.

Reacting to the announcement, one fan wrote: "Wow! He will automatically gets minutes in March."

Another added: "Wait he’s a first team player??? No way"

And one said: "Confirms he's the back up LCB then."

In the official statement confirming that Heaven had joined the club, United technical director Jason Wilcox confirmed that Heaven would now spend time with United's first-team in order to further develop his talents.

“We are delighted that Ayden has joined Manchester United," said Wilcox.

"He is already an extremely talented defender who is ready to join our first-team squad in order to maximise his development."

Although it is likely that Heaven will play in some academy games, United fans will be happy to hear that he will spend most of his time training with Amorim's squad and will therefore be ready to fill in at centre-back should he be needed.

The last player to wear the number 26 at United was former second choice goalkeeper Dean Henderson, who left the club to join Crystal Palace in a £20million deal in August 2023.

“I am incredibly proud to join Manchester United. I’m grateful to everyone who helped make this dream a reality," Heaven said in a statement.

“There is so much that I want to achieve in the game, I’ll be giving everything to continue my development and become the best player that I can be.”
