Early favourites emerge to sign Marcus Rashford after Man Utd put unsettled star up for sale

The England international could leave the club, according to reports.

Several clubs are already keen to ‘sign’ Marcus Rashford after it emerged that United ‘remain open’ to bids for the player, according to reports.

Rashford, 27, cuts a glum figure currently and is constantly the subject of attention from fans and media.

Despite some of the stories surrounding his future, the United forward has actually seen an upturn in his form since Ruben Amorim took charge of the side in November.

Rashford scored two minutes into Amorim’s first game but could only help United to a 1-1 draw against Ipswich at Portman Road on November 24.

He netted twice against Everton in the 4-0 win over the Toffees at Old Trafford on December 1.

However, he was benched for the Red Devils’ defeats against Arsenal and Nottingham Forest last week.

Yesterday, it emerged that “United are said to be concerned about Rashford's lifestyle choices off the pitch”, according to The Telegraph.

It is thought a potential sale could also help United fall in line with PSR regulations as a sale would represent “pure profit” with Rashford being an academy product.

The player has struggled to perform consistently since penning a five-year contract worth £325,000 a week in the summer of 2023.

Who could sign Marcus Rashford?

A move to another Premier League club is unlikely, with the player likely to move abroad if he were to leave United.

The Telegraph’s report suggested that a move to the Saudi Pro League is an option alongside a potential switch to PSG.

A change of environment may be the key to Rashford being able to recapture the form of yesteryear.

However, in recent years PSG have moved away from signing 'superstars' with Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and Lionel Messi leaving the club.

Where or if Rashford fits into Luis Enrique's system is unclear.

The Englishman favours playing as a left forward or a central striker.

Bradley Barcola currently starts on the left and is unlikely to be dislodged from the starting XI having scored ten goals in 14 Ligue 1 appearances this term.

Portugal international Goncalo Ramos started and scored during the Parisiens' 3-0 win over RB Salzburg on Tuesday evening with Randal Kolo Muani, Desire Doue, Marco Asencio and Ibrahim Mbaye the other forward options at Enrique's disposal.

Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg gave an update on the situation, posting to X on Tuesday morning.

“Manchester United would sell Marcus Rashford at the latest by the summer and would already be open to top offers in the winter," explained Plettenberg.

“The club acknowledge his development under Ruben Amorim but consider him definitely not unsellable.”

How much Rashford would cost a club is still unclear but United should be able to get a fair fee as the 27-year-old is under contract at the club until June 2028.

Any potential funds raised from a sale may also be used to sign Sporting CP's Viktor Gyokeres.
