Manchester United have reportedly joined the race for another Premier League attacker who they admire.

Confirmed to finish with their worst ever Premier League points tally under Ruben Amorim, United are poised to be busy in the summer transfer market as they look to strengthen a struggling squad.

Given their lack of goal threat, United have been linked with a number of attacking players - with Ipswich Town's Liam Delap and Wolves' Matheus Cunha widely believed to be at the top of their list.

The names of European goal-getters Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyokeres have also been mentioned but a fresh name has been added to the list.

According to The Telegraph, United are keen on Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo, who has been in excellent form for the Bees alongside strike partner Yoann Wissa this season.

The Cameroonian has scored 18 times in the Premier League this term and has attracted interest from both Newcastle and Premier League champions Liverpool.

But United's top brass are also fans of the 25-year-old and are said to be ready to join the race for him.

The former Troyes man is expected to have plenty of clubs circling around him and is rated at around £60 million.

Brentford signed Mbeumo in 2019 for just £5.8 million in what was a club-record fee at the time and the west London outfit will be in line to make a substantial profit on him if they do decide to cash in.

Earlier in the season, manager Thomas Frank told Sky Sports that he was "sure" Brentford would be "open" to selling Mbeumo if "the price is right" but said it wouldn't be on the cheap.

The French-born player operates from the right flank and comes in on his left foot and could be a perfect fit for Amorim's preferred 3-4-3 formation.

But according to the report, the potential addition would not have any impact on a pursuit of Cunha, who plays through the middle.

A deal for Cunha, who has a £65 million release clause in his Wolves deal, is seen as independent for the Europa League semi-finalists.
