A former Manchester United player once labelled as a 'mood killer' by Ralf Rangnick has found a new club.

Rangnick took charge of United on an interim basis between November 2021 and May 2022, replacing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Austrian's time at Old Trafford was largely unsuccessful but he did publicly identify a series of issues with the club's recruitment strategy.

And according to Bild, he made private admissions about three Manchester United stars, allegedly describing them as 'mood killers' in the dressing room.

It was claimed that the three players in question were Edinson Cavani, Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial.

Martial embarked on a new start away from United last year, signing for Greek giants AEK Athens on a free transfer.

He scored seven goals in his first 14 appearances and, despite injury issues in recent months, has already achieved cult hero status in Greece.

Cavani, meanwhile, left United in 2022 and had a spell at Valencia before signing for Boca Juniors. At 38, he is still playing and has been with Boca at the 2025 Club World Cup, though the Argentine side were eliminated at the group stage on Tuesday night.

As for Pogba, the France midfielder has not played a competitive match since September 2023.

He was playing for Juventus when he was handed a four-year ban from football after the banned substance dehydropiandrosterone (DHEA) was found in his system.

Pogba denied 'knowingly or deliberately taking any supplements that violate anti-doping regulations' and, after an appeal, his ban was reduced to 18 months by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

As part of the verdict document, it was disclosed that DHEA only has an effect on female athletes.

He was eligible to return to professional football in March but has remained out of the game ever since.

That looks like it will soon change, with BBC Sport reporting that Pogba is set to sign a two-year contract with French giants Monaco.

Adi Hutter's side finished in third place in Ligue 1 and will therefore compete in next season's Champions League.

It is reported that Pogba will have a medical in the principality ahead of completing his move.

Monaco have already completed one high-profile signing, with Eric Dier signing as a free agent from Bayern Munich.

They are also in talks to sign Barcelona winger Ansu Fati on loan, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that an option will be included for Monaco to complete a permanent deal for the 22-year-old.
