Former interim Manchester United head coach Ralf Rangnick has already explained who he thinks would be up to the task of replacing Ruben Amorim as Red Devils boss if he were to be sacked.
Amorim, 40, is currently under huge pressure as United’s woeful form continued with a 3-1 away defeat against Brentford on Saturday.
After six Premier League games so far this term, United sit 14th, having won just two games as well as drawn once and lost three times.
With the side already out of the Carabao Cup following an embarrassing penalty shootout defeat to League Two Grimsby, any hope of silverware rests on the FA Cup, which will begin in January for Premier League teams.

Most fans and pundits have appeared puzzled at Amorim’s lack of desire to adapt this season, with the Portuguese insisting on playing a 3-4-3 formation despite his side’s precarious position.
Each lacklustre performance feels like a step closer to the exit door for Amorim.
Over the weekend, it was reported that the club had identified three potential successors to the 40-year-old if he were to be sacked.

However, contrary reports from BBC Sport’s Simon Stone suggest that United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is “backing Amorim” and “feels only fair to judge him on a full season”.
Former England head coach Gareth Southgate, Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner and Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola are the mooted trio, with one man already securing the approval of ex-United gaffer Rangnick.
The 67-year-old German, who is currently the coach of the Austria national team, acted as interim Red Devils boss during the 2021/22 campaign following the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
And so, he knows more than most about what it takes to be a head coach at United - and based on his previous quotes, it appears that he would back Glasner to thrive in the role.

In 2012, Rangnick, then Director of Football at Red Bull Salzburg, appointed Glasner as first-team assistant coach, after the Austrian had previously been hired as a management assistant following the completion of a Diplomkaufmann – an MBA or Masters of Business Administration.
Rangnick has always spoken glowingly about Glasner and described him as “one of the most exciting” coaches in Europe in 2023 during an interview with LAOLA1 .

Glasner’s credentials are there for all to see, having won the 2024/25 FA Cup with Palace following 2. Liga success with LASK and a Europa League triumph with Eintracht Frankfurt in 2021/22.

Meanwhile, United fan and internet personality Mark Goldbridge - formerly Brent Di Cesare - thinks Rangnick himself could be worth offering a second chance.
“I'd bring Rangnick back over any previous manager,” he wrote on X on Monday.
“Only one who was intent on clearing house, only one who upset all the lazy t***s in the squad, only one with a proven track record on recruitment.”
