Manchester United fans have praised Kobbie Mainoo for his mature interview after scoring a late winner against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

On Thursday night, Erik ten Hag’s men recorded a dramatic 4-3 victory over Wolves thanks to a stunning late goal by Mainoo.

Having led 3-1 going into the final five minutes, it looked like United would come away dissatisfied after Max Kilman and Pedro Neto made it 3-3.

However, 18-year-old Mainoo took responsibility and scored a brilliant goal deep into stoppage time to dig his team out of trouble.

Speaking to MUTV after the match, Mainoo said: “I can’t even describe the feeling to be honest. I mean it’s a dream come true.

“My boyhood club, such a tough game and an away game as well to a tough tough side. To come away with three points in that fashion is amazing.”

He continued: “Every win is important and winning in this team is incredible, every time is incredible.

“The fans are incredible, the best fans in the world so no, I can’t complain. One game at a time, trying to keep improving and stacking performances and keep on impacting the team in the best way possible.”

Reacting to the interview, one fan wrote on social media: “Kobbie Mainoo speaks with so much maturity for an 18-year-old. He doesn’t seem phased by all the headlines and reactions about him.”

His parents deserve a lot of praise…. Clearly good parenting. I hope he doesn’t change his personality and attitude

Another tweeted: “He speaks like he’s 30 years old. My guy is so mature on and off the pitch.”

A third fan added: “Kobbie Mainoo has such a wise head on his shoulders. So cool and level-headed in his post-match interview.”

United boss Ten Hag was also full of praise for the teenager, he said: “We pushed him a lot by that side, by pushing him in training and you see he makes such good progress and he is almost progressing from game to game.

“He is determined, he is a good character and I hope he keeps going with this progress.”
