Jose Mourinho reportedly wants to manage Manchester United for a second time amid uncertainty over Erik ten Hag's position.

Pressure is mounting on Ten Hag as Man United suffered a crushing 4-0 defeat at Crystal Palace on Monday, creating an unwanted club record in the process.

Speaking after the humiliating result, Ten Hag was branded 'deluded' for the comments he made after his side's latest setback.

Two Man United legends have called for him to be relieved of his duties at Old Trafford following a dismal 2023/24 campaign.

The likes of Thomas Tuchel, who will leave his role at Bayern Munich at the end of the season, England manager Gareth Southgate and ex-Chelsea gaffer Graham Potter have been linked with replacing the Dutchman.

Not to mention Mourinho, who would love another go at the Man United job, according to the Manchester Evening News.

The report claims that the Portuguese has told confidants he would 'walk' to Manchester to manage them for a second time.

Of course, he's already managed the Red Devils, having been appointed back in May 2016 before being sacked in December 2018.

Despite being friends with Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the club does NOT want to reappoint the former Real Madrid manager, who is not expecting an approach from his old team.

After replacing Louis van Gaal, Mourinho won the EFL Cup and Europa League during his time in charge of Man United and guided them to a second-placed finish in the Premier League in the 2017/18 term.

The 61-year-old, who has also managed Chelsea and Tottenham in England, has been out of work since his AS Roma dismissal at the start of the year.

Ten Hag, meanwhile, could salvage Man United's season by beating Manchester City in the FA Cup final later this month.

His side currently occupy eighth place in the table and could still fail to qualify for European football for next season.

They resume their faltering league campaign on Sunday when they host league leaders Arsenal.
