Borussia Dortmund rule themselves out of race for Jadon Sancho amid Manchester United exile

Jadon Sancho returning to Borussia Dortmund in January is OFF the cards as the club can't afford his salary, according to reports in Germany.

Sancho has been linked with a move away from Manchester United following his public dispute with Erik ten Hag.

The Man United boss left Sancho out of his matchday squad for their Premier League game against Arsenal at the Emirates.

Speaking after the 3-1 defeat to Arsenal, Ten Hag said: "Jadon was [absent] on his performance on the training.

"We didn't select him. You have to reach a level every day at Manchester United and we can make choices on the frontline, so for this game he wasn't selected."

The star winger hit out with a statement on social media, claiming he's been made a 'scapegoat'.

His future has since been clouded by uncertainty, with a transfer back to Dortmund mooted.

However, German outfit SPORT Bild claim Dortmund won't be making a play for their former player in January because they can't afford his salary.

The Bundesliga side sold Sancho to Man United for £73 million in July 2021.

The 23-year-old has failed to make a huge impression in the Premier League since his move from Dortmund.

He's made three league appearances this season as he hit out at Ten Hag's comments.

"Please don't believe everything you read! I will not allow people saying things that is completely untrue, I have conducted myself in training very well this week," he said

"I believe there are other reasons for this matter that I won't go into, I've been a scapegoat for a long time which isn't fair!

"All I want to do is play football with a smile on my face and contribute to my team. I respect all decisions that are made by the coaching staff, I play with fantastic players and grateful to do so which I know every week is a challenge.
