Erik ten Hag held nothing back as he spoke about his Manchester United situation ahead of England's Euro 2024 opener against Serbia.

Ten Hag joined Dutch television channel NOS for tonight's Group C clash in Gelsenkirchen.

However, naturally, he wasn't just asked about the tournament in Germany as he disclosed some details about Man United's decision to keep him on as the club's manager.

He claims the Red Devils 'disturbed' his holiday and revealed they told him that they spoke to Thomas Tuchel.

"Man United disturbed my holiday, they suddenly stood at my doorstep," he explained.

"Man United have told me that they spoke with Tuchel, but they eventually came to the conclusion that they already have the best manager."

Ten Hag and Man United have now entered talks over a new contract after Sir Jim Ratcliffe ended months of uncertainty.

But the Dutchman insists there is work to be done over agreeing terms to a new deal.

"Man United and I still have to find an agreement for the new contract," he said. "This isn't easily done, we are still going to have to talk about this."

On INEOS' lengthy end-of-season review, Ten Hag added: "INEOS took their time. They are new in football, it's normal to reflect the season. It's no secret that they talked with multiple candidates."

Ten Hag also touched on England's chances of winning Euro 2024 as he believes Gareth Southgate boasts the best midfield of all the countries at the tournament.

"England has a fantastic squad, they are favorites for a reason," he said. "They have the best midfield of all countries in the EURO'S.

"They got Harry Kane as their striker. On the wings they have incredible amount of quality."
