Fans mock Man United as Erik ten Hag bans flip flops ahead of new season

Erik ten Hag is preparing for his second season in charge of Manchester United

Fans have been mocking Manchester United after Erik ten Hag reportedly banned flip flops.

After a largely successful first season in charge of United, Ten Hag will be hoping his men can compete with the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal again.

Prior to last season, it was reported that Ten Hag introduced a bunch of new rules in order to change the culture within the dressing room.

According to the Daily Mail, the Dutchman is at it again ahead of the 23/24 campaign.

The report claimed that Ten Hag banned flip flops whilst United were on their pre-season tour.

Rival fans were quick to react on social media.

One said: “Well, we've had a good run.”

Another tweeted: “Honestly. This shower will stop at nothing to fool you into thinking they’re back.”

A third fan added: “Ten Hag will ban anything he doesn’t like the look of honestly.”

Someone else wrote: “Stuff that other clubs have been doing for years ??? Man who invented the wheel eh.”

Whilst a fifth commented: “Revolutionising the game. What a visionary.”

Another fan said: “TBH, still riding on the high of 'someone who looks like they know what they're doing is actually in charge’.”

United rounded off their tour of the United States with a defeat against German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund.

A brace from Donyell Malen and a goal from Youssoufa Moukoko sealed a 3-2 win for Dortmund. Diogo Dalot and Antony were the scorers for United.

After the match, Ten Hag blasted his players for not following the rules.

He said: “They were giveaways and that was annoying. But the last half an hour, it was bad, a poor performance.

“They didn't follow the rules at all, not in pressing, not in building up or when attacking. They were 11 individuals on the pitch.”

United will be back in action on Saturday as they take on French side RC Lens at Old Trafford.
