Manchester United agreed a deal to sign Ederson a month ago but the transfer is yet to be confirmed.
The Atalanta midfielder is set to become United's first signing of the window after the club struck a club-to-club agreement worth €45m with the Serie A side.
Personal terms are already agreed with the Premier League side and Ederson has already spoke about his imminent move while at the World Cup with Brazil.
Ederson told reporters in New York: "Certainly, everything is almost done, but now I have to enjoy this moment. This is a wonderful experience and you have to enjoy it the most."

United missed out on top target Mateus Fernandes, who joined Tottenham from West Ham in a club-record £85m deal after United refused to match Spurs' valuation while Elliot Anderson joined rivals Manchester City and Sandro Tonali also opted for Spurs.
Why Ederson to Man Utd still hasn’t been made official
Ederson wasn't even meant to be at the World Cup but was called up as a replacement for Roma full-back Wesley Franca who was injured on the eve of the tournament and forced to withdraw.
His involvement for Carlo Ancelloti’s men is the primary reason for the hold up as the midfielder still needs to complete the second part of his medical in England, and United can't get it done until Brazil's tournament is over according to Fabrizio Romano.
The transfer expert assured United fans there is nothing to worry about and that the deal will be done in due time.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, he said: "They (Man Utd) have a verbal agreement with Atalanta. So the two clubs have an agreement since one month ago.
"But they're waiting for Ederson to have the second part of his medical with Manchester United in England before approving everything.
"So verbal agreement club-to-club, documents prepared, first part of the medical [done] but waiting on the second part of the medical, the official one with Manchester United.
"That's why Ederson to Man Utd is not official yet."
United are continuing to pursue midfielders regardless of Ederson’s arrival with Bournemouth's Alex Scott high on their shortlist but the Cherries insist he's not for sale and are pushing to tie him to a new deal.
Real Madrid's Aurelien Tchouameni is regarded as another target with his future uncertain following the recent appointment of Jose Mourinho.
Borussia Dortmund's Felix Nmecha is also in the frame after impressing for Germany during the World Cup.
