Fans think Bayern Munich are not taking Manchester United seriously ahead of the Champions League group stage clash on Wednesday.

The two sides meet in a repeat of the 1999 final, having both been drawn in Group A along with Copenhagen and Galatasaray.

Bayern have started the season well with 10 points from their first four games, but United are experiencing their worst-ever start to a Premier League campaign with three defeats in their opening five outings.

They were thoroughly outplayed and beaten 3-1 at home by Brighton on Saturday and the mood around Old Trafford isn't great.

Erik ten Hag's first Champions League tie in charge of United is a seriously difficult one and fans think Bayern are taking the Red Devils a little lightly.

Footage from training showed Thomas Muller in fine spirits, playfully prancing around as coaches laughed.

And plenty of fans on social media reckon Bayern are underestimating United given their dire predicament at the moment.

One said: "Bayern clearly underestimate us, they’ll soon find out."

Another commented: "Bayern are not taking training for Manchester United seriously."

A third simply wrote: "Training against Manchester United."

A fourth user had a different view, stressing: "This is what they want Man United to think. It’s a classic Bavarian move."

Another added: "They know is it’s a walk over game."

A sixth person violated, writing: "Playing United is their training game."

Despite the comments from fine, England captain Harry Kane believes United will still present a tough test even with their early season struggles.

“I know Manchester United are having a difficult moment at the moment, but sometimes teams like that are dangerous because they’re always looking to come back in a big way," he told Sports Illustrated Deutschland ahead of his first Champions League game for Bayern.

“So we have to be prepared for them and of course we want to get the crowd behind us as early as possible on Wednesday in front of our home crowd and approach the game with a lot of intensity.

“The Champions League is always special and my first game with Bayern Munich will stay with me – so I hope it goes well.”
