Manchester United have reportedly handed a new role to Amad Diallo ahead of the new season.

Over the last few weeks, there have been differing reports regarding the future of manager Erik ten Hag.

Prior to the FA Cup final, it was reported that the Dutchman would be sacked after the match. However, it was confirmed last week that Ten Hag will continue as United boss.

After deciding on the future of the manager, it has been claimed that United have now decided on the role Diallo will have within the squad.

As reported by the Manchester Evening News, the Old Trafford club now regard Diallo as one of the more integral players for the future.

The report stated: “It is understood United now bracket Amad with Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund as youngsters to spearhead their next side.”

Diallo missed a large chunk of the 23/24 season after he suffered a knee injury during United’s pre-season match against Arsenal in New Jersey.

Since returning to fitness, Diallo played a huge part in United’s journey to the FA Cup final after he scored a late winner against Liverpool in the quarter-final.

After scoring against Newcastle United during a 3-2 win at Old Trafford last month, Ten Hag said: “It was a brilliant goal by Amad. You see how young players are developing, like Amad, and I was really pleased with his performance and it was a great goal. He is very good. He has high potential.

“He is a symbol for the season as he had a bad injury. He fought himself back and had to wait long for his chance and, against Arsenal, and also against Newcastle, he was very good.”

He added: “The club is in transition. It's a disappointing season, that's clear but, in the disappointment, there's progress from some good players, Rasmus Hojlund, Amad Diallo, Alejandro Garnacho. I'm always happy when young players are progressing very good across the season. I've said before that some good things are happening. Some very good things. There is high potential in the club.”
