Manchester United have made Premier League history after the fixtures for the upcoming season were released.

The Red Devils will begin the 24/25 campaign by welcoming Fulham to Old Trafford on Friday, August 16.

Meanwhile, local rivals and reigning champions Manchester City will travel to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea.

Liverpool are away at newly promoted Ipswich Town whilst Arsenal host Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Emirates Stadium.

After the fixtures were released, it was claimed that United had now set a new record.

As per Opta Joe, who wrote on social media: “8 - @ManUtd are the first side in the competition's history to begin a Premier League campaign with a home game in eight consecutive seasons. Advantage. #PLFixturesRelease.”

Reacting on social media, one fan said: “Premier had to pay homage to the Great Manchester United.”

Another tweeted: “What about how many times Liverpool play a promoted team to start the season?”

A third fan added: “They always get favoured.”

Someone else wrote: “How is that an advantage? Means you have an away game later on in the season during more fixture congestion.”

A fifth commented: “We are the biggest team in England what do you expect.”

Another fan said: “People will no doubt react to this like we’ve been favoured. It’s the same for everyone, each team play 19 home matches and 19 away matches!”

United endured a tough campaign during the 23/24 season as they finished in a disappointing eighth place in the Premier League table, eight points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa and 31 points adrift of City.

Despite their poor season, they managed to end on a high as they lifted the FA Cup after beating Pep Guardiola’s side in the final at Wembley last month.
