Micah Richards breaks the news to Jamie Carragher that Liverpool are 1-0 down to Luton

Liverpool went 1-0 down to Luton Town on Wednesday night thanks to an early goal from Chiedozie Ogbene.

Micah Richards took great pleasure in announcing the news that Luton Town had gone 1-0 up against Premier League leaders Liverpool on Wednesday night.

The former Manchester City defender was presenting a segment on CBS Sports ahead of this evening's Champions League fixtures when he found out about Chiedozie Ogbene's first-half opener.

Moments later, Richards informed fellow pundit Jamie Carragher about the goal update at Anfield – and the reaction from Liverpool's former captain was priceless.

You can watch that moment below:

Luton's goalscorer Chiedozie Ogbene, who has been one of the club's standout performers this season, celebrated netting his third Premier League goal of the season against Jurgen Klopp's side.

The 26-year-old Republic of Ireland international headed past Caoimhin Kelleher from close range after the Cork-born goalkeeper parried away a powerful strike from Tahith Chong.

It has been a memorable few months for Ogbene, who was singled out by Jamie Carragher on an episode of Monday Night Football this month.

He said: "For me, Chiedozie Ogbene has been absolutely outstanding every time I watch him.

"He has played on the left and the right and at the moment he is playing right wing back. He's supporting the play, we know he's an absolute flying machine.

"A lot of criticism of a flying winger is if you drop off, has he actually got the quality to thread a little pass or put a nice cross into the box? He has that.

"Another criticism we talk about of quick players is how often they get caught offside, but he times his run fantastically."

Carragher then brought up his clashes with Thierry Henry when discussing Ogbene's performances.

"He is not a full-backs dream and the reason I say that is I’ve been there,” he added. "The way Dan Burn feels after chasing this fella is the way I used to feel chasing Thierry Henry.

"You know when you are playing against a quick player that you don’t look at the ball. You just turn and run and hope the ball is not good enough.

"When I think about Luton players that have impressed me, he is one who stands out.

"You look at the top ball carriers in the Premier League and he is in great company.

“I just think it is a fantastic story where he has come from. He played a bit of Gaelic football and had lots of moves to different clubs and he has been a real stand-out.

"When you think of Luton staying in the Premier League, if him and Ross Barkley continue as they are, they have a great chance.”
