It hasn't quite worked out for him at the Etihad so far.

Manchester City have already beaten their Champions League rivals to the 'next Dani Alves'.

Pep Guardiola's side signed right-back Yan Couto in 2020 after impressing for Spanish side Girona in La Liga amid interest from Barcelona.

However, he is yet to make a single appearance for the Premier League club.

The Brazil international has spent two seasons on loan at former club Girona sandwiched between a stint at Portuguese club Braga.

Dubbed the 'next Dani Alves', the 21-year-old loves to drive forward in a manner reminiscent of the former Barcelona star.

“I'm a modern right-back,” Couto has said of his game previously (quotes via The Sun).

“As a Brazilian player, I'm skilled technically, quick and consistent defensively. I help the team a lot in defence.

“My strongest point is the offensive side. I'm an attacking full-back who helps the team to create chances."

However, he is still yet to break into the team at the Etihad and has suggested it may be time to move on, hinting at a return to Spain.

"Obviously I have hopes and I think about my future," Couto told Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo.

"I want to be at the highest level and I am very happy to be at Girona, but I also want to play in the Champions League, I don't know if here or at Manchester City, although I love Spain. I see myself playing more in La Liga, but we have to see what options we can consider for next year (season)."
