Fans Blown Away By Josko Gvardiol’s 'Humble' Car Compared to Man City Teammates

Gvardiol’s car choice has gone down a treat.

Josko Gvardiol has been described as a "humble king" after he pulled up to Manchester City training in a very different car compared to the rest of his teammates.

The 23-year-old defender, who joined the Citizens from RB Leipzig in 2023 for a reported £77.6 million, is said to earn £200,000 per week at the Premier League club, according to Capology.

That reported figure makes him one of the club's top 10 earners, although the Croatia international prefers to keep it subtle when it comes to his choice of vehicle.

As seen in the video footage below, a host of City players were filmed driving into the CFA training base in Manchester, including Jeremy Doku, Phil Foden and Omar Marmoush.

The in-form Erling Haaland could also be seen driving a rare matte green Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato, a 602-horsepower V10 engine supercar worth around £250,000.

Gvardiol, meanwhile, was seen behind the wheel of a Volkswagen Golf 8R – a car that retails at around £45,000 but can cost significantly more with modifications and other additions.

Plenty of fans have expressed their appreciation for Gvardiol's choice of car.

One said: "Gvardiol's car is like the cheapest there, but can still do 0-60 in about four seconds. Rapid those Golf R's," while another commented: "My humble king. My kind of car.”

A third wrote: "If I have to judge a person by their car – Josko Gvardiol elite human being.”

A fourth said: "I drive the same car as Gvardiol!" and a fifth added: "Josko Gvardiol, humbly drives a Volkswagen but is a Rolls Royce on the football pitch."

Back in May, England international Phil Foden could be seen driving one of the cheaper cars, while Ruben Dias and Ederson turned up to training in a Lamborghini Urus, valued at around £200,000.

Part of the consideration for elite footballers when it comes to buying new cars is the insurance costs – some of which can total astronomical amounts.

A 2021 study by MoneySuperMarket found that top footballers pay more in insurance premiums than any other profession, and up to five times more than the average car owner.
