Manchester United's official TikTok account commented on a post made by viral fan 'The United Strand' after their 2-1 win over Liverpool at Anfield.

Goals from Bryan Mbeumo and Harry Maguire sealed a crucial victory for Ruben Amorim's side at the home of the Premier League champions.

Cody Gakpo had equalised for Liverpool, but Maguire's 84th-minute header from a Bruno Fernandes cross was enough for United to take home the three points.

Amorim has now won back-to-back Premier League games for the first time as United manager.

The win will have been particularly significant for United fan Frank Ilett - better known on social media as 'TheUnitedStrand'.

In October 2024, Ilett vowed not to cut his hair until United won five consecutive matches in all competitions.

The one-year anniversary of his challenge has already passed, and Ilett now has over 300,000 followers and 7.7 million likes on TikTok as he details his progress.

His rise to fame has been accompanied by some occasional downsides, as he was attacked by a fan inside Old Trafford during United's 2-1 win over Chelsea last month.

But most fans have got behind his challenge, and after his latest post on TikTok, United's official account even left a comment to the viral fan.

They simply wrote: "We have an encouraging update."

Ilett replied: "Yessss! 3 to go!"

Speaking after the win at Anfield, United wing-back Diogo Dalot revealed that even the club's players are aware of the TikTok account.

He told reporters: "We hope that we can give him that haircut! But we have to go game by game.

"Obviously, we know this is a very difficult league, we have tough games and, of course, we have to go after that consistency that we have lacked because we have already shown in the past that we can compete against any team in the world."
