Manchester City are set to treble the wages of one of their brightest talents when they hand him a new contract.

City allowed prospect Cole Palmer to join Chelsea for a fee of £42.5 million despite his goals in the Community Shield and UEFA Super Cup.

The England Under 21 star has since finally scored his first Premier League goal for the Blues but City aren't too aggrieved with his exit.

That's because they have a starlet in the ranks who they believe is even more talented and a new deal is on the table for him.

Oscar Bobb joined City in 2019 from Valerenga and went on to be crowned the club's Under-23 Player of the Year in consecutive seasons.

He has been promoted to the first-team this season and has made five appearances, including a first start against Newcastle in the Carabao Cup.

Although City were beaten, Bobb made a huge impression and Pep Guardiola said "he was more than brilliant in all parts, offence and defence".

City clearly have high hopes for the Norwegian and according to the Daily Star,

he will commit his future to the club by signing a contract until 2029.

Bobb still has two years on his current deal at the Etihad Stadium but City want to reward him for his recent performances.

They see him as the next gem to follow in the footsteps of Phil Foden and Rico Lewis, who made the grade after coming through the ranks.

The 18-year-old will be given a monumental wage increase as a result. He reportedly earns £12,000-a-week at present but that amount will rise to a £36,000-a-week once he signs on the dotted line.

Bobb received a first call-up to the Norway senior side this month and made his debut in a 4-0 win against Cyprus alongside club and international teammate Erling Haaland.

It's claimed there are no plans for him to head out on loan in the January transfer window.
