Liverpool fans are fearing the worst after seeing what Trent Alexander-Arnold did while away on his summer holiday.

Alexander-Arnold, 25, is enjoying a well-earned break after helping England reach the final of Euro 2024 in Germany this summer.

He is yet to join up with the rest of the Liverpool squad, who beat Real Betis 1-0 in their opening pre-season friendly on Saturday in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

There has been a huge amount of speculation over Alexander-Arnold's future, with the club currently in talks with the defender over a new long-term contract.

His current deal is due to expire at the end of the 2024/25 campaign and Liverpool are desperate for him to commit his future to the club amid interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid.

The Sun claim Liverpool are preparing a 'monstrous' contract offer that would make him one of the club's top earners to prevent him from moving to the Bernabeu.

And while discussions over a new deal are said to have been positive, Liverpool fans will remain nervous until it's signed and officially announced by the club.

Alexander-Arnold has spent part of his summer break in the United States with his England teammate, Real Madrid superstar Jude Bellingham – leading to speculation on social media that the midfielder has attempted to convince his friend to move to Spain.

And those worries were fuelled further when an image circulated on social media on Saturday of Alexander-Arnold signing a Real Madrid shirt for one young fan, seemingly during his summer break in the US.

Some fans voiced their concerns over the gesture, with one commenting on X: "My boy is probably gone…"

Another added: "That's the end, forget everything else they’ll just be noise. We've lost him."

While a third posted: "He's not helping now Trent is he?"

However, other fans were less bothered about the image.

"Jude has signed multiple Liverpool jerseys before going Real Madrid. Means absolutely nothing," one posted.

While another agreed: "Calm down… it means nothing."

The Sun claim that Alexander-Arnold has already held positive talks with his new head coach Arne Slot and looks set to remain at Anfield, at least for now.

A source connected to the club told the newspaper: "Trent's spoken to the new manager already. This took place before the Euros and they're in touch now.

"They had a great conversation initially but the manager respected that he needed to focus on the tournament.

"Trent, like the rest of the squad, sees this as a new beginning and a fresh start and he is excited to get back to training to lay the foundations for a successful, new season.

"He is definitely committed for the season and a huge deal will be presented to him to stay beyond that."
