Real Madrid have their sights set on another Liverpool player amid their ongoing battle for the signature of Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Throughout the season reports have claimed that Liverpool star Alexander-Arnold will leave the club in the summer to join Real Madrid on a free transfer.

The latest reports claim that the right-back is yet to agree a deal with the La Liga giants, but it appears to be more likely than not that he will be playing at the Bernebeu next season.

And now, a new report has suggested that Real Madrid are preparing to buy another one of Liverpool's most important players.

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has caught the attention of Real Madrid due to his impressive performances in the Premier League this season.

The Spanish champions reportedly view the talented Argentine as an ideal replacement for Real Madrid legend Luka Modric who, at 39-years-old, is likely in the final stage of his career.

Since joining Liverpool from Brighton in summer 2023, Mac Allister has impressed, earning himself a regular starting spot for both former manager Jurgen Klopp and current boss Arne Slot.

Therefore, it comes as no surprise that Real Madrid would be interested in bringing him to the club in an attempt to further add to a world-class midfield that includes players like Jude Bellingham and Federico Valverde.

Madrid are said to be fans of both Mac Allister's defensive talents and also for his ability to contribute in attack, making him a complete player who could slot straight into their team.

However, Madrid will struggle to convince Liverpool to part ways with the 26-year-old, especially if they are successful in convincing Alexander-Arnold to leave his boyhood club, with the Reds reportedly unwilling to entertain any offer less than €100million (£83m).

And, with his current deal with Liverpool keeping him at Anfield until at least June 2028, Slot can comfortably wave away any advances by Real Madrid for the midfielder should he wish to hold onto him for the remainder of the 2024/25 season and beyond.
