Two Liverpool signings stand out amongst the strangest in the club's recent history, but where are they now?

Since the foundation of the Premier League in 1992, there have been plenty of weird transfers that have had fans scratching their heads.

From James Rodriguez joining Everton to West Ham's double signing of Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano, the League has seen plenty of strange moves.

And, while much has been said about Liverpool's impressive recruitment in recent years, there are two strange signings who joined the club together that stand out as being different to the rest.

Ozan Kabak and Ben Davies came to Anfield in February 2021 as Liverpool struggled with a series of centre-back injuries, leading to midfielders Jordan Henderson and Fabinho filling in a defenders in several games.

But what happened to them after their spells at Liverpool and where are they now?

Kabak joined Liverpool on loan from Bundesliga side Schalke 04 in a deal reportedly worth up to £1.5million.

The Turkish defender made 13 appearances for the Reds in his four-month spell at the club, but ultimately the club decided not to exercise the option to buy in his loan contract.

Thanking fans after his departure, Kabak wrote: "Dear Liverpool family, I would like to thank you for the compassion and support you have shown towards me since the day I arrived.

I was proud to be part of this special family. I will always remember my days here at Liverpool with great happiness and the special song which you have kindly gifted me."

After Liverpool, Kabak went on another loan to newly-promoted Premier League side Norwich City in the summer of 2021 for the whole season, but failed to nail down a place.

The following summer, the 24-year-old left Schalke to join fellow Bundesliga side Hoffenheim, where he currently plays regularly on four-year deal.

Unlike Kabak, Davies joined Liverpool on a permanent long-term deal for an undisclosed fee.

Despite this, the Englishman never made a senior appearance for the Reds, spending the 2022/23 season on loan with newly-relegated Sheffield United before completing a permanent transfer to current club Rangers in July 2022.

The 29-year-old has made 58 appearances for the Scottish side, but this summer he signed a loan deal with Birmingham City, who he is yet to make an appearance for.
